Picture-hanging height at a 145 cm center

A 145 cm center is only the visual target. The screw or hook must be placed higher according to half the frame height, then adjusted downward for the actual hanging hardware.

Short answerFor a 70 cm-high frame with a 12 cm hardware drop, centered at 145 cm: place the hook at 168 cm from the finished floor.

Use one unit from start to finish

Measure the outside frame height and the hardware drop in centimeters. Mixing millimeters, centimeters, and converted inch fractions is an easy way to introduce a transcription error.

Find the expected top edge

Half of a 70 cm frame is 35 cm. Add that to the chosen 145 cm frame center.

frame top = 145 + (70 ÷ 2) = 180 cm

Subtract the real hardware drop

With a tensioned wire or hook contact point 12 cm below the top, the wall mark belongs at 168 cm.

hook height = 180 − 12 = 168 cm

Two-hook metric example

If two D-rings are 42 cm apart, keep the 168 cm height and place the hooks 21 cm left and right of the frame centerline. Verify the two points with a level.

horizontal offsets = −21 cm, +21 cm

Verify the result physically

The expected bottom edge is 110 cm from the floor. Tape the 70 cm-high outline from 110 to 180 cm and inspect it from normal viewing positions. Reconsider the center before selecting anchors if the frame competes with furniture, trim, switches, or a sloped ceiling.
